Before and After....

I thought since hes doubled his weight now I would show a picture from when Axton was in the NICU and a picture from now!

Doctor....

We went to the doctor today and had a regular check-up and shots. He now weighs 8 pounds 10 ounces...thats double his birth weight! The doctor said he was very impressed. The check-up came out perfect. Thanks to our wonderful nurse the shots were a breeze. She had to give four shots...two in each leg. She literally stuck him once...he cried....then she said all done!! I picked him up and he looked at me like..am i ok mommy?! Im so proud of how well hes doing :)

Our Son Is Amazing....

So Axton decided he was going to be a big boy and sit up ALL BY HIMSELF in his bumbo. Im not talking like a few seconds and we had to catch him....Im talking he sat up in it and i fed him his bottle!!! And he rolled over on his play mat again. It seems like he is making alot more noises at us. You can tell he so badly wants to talk to us! He also has been playing for longer periods of time during the day. His favorite thing to do is standing up...Chris or I will hold him under his arms and he'll just stand and jump on his legs! He thinks that is the coolest thing :) I cant wait to see what he will do next!

YUCK!

For the past couple days Axton has decided he is going to have horrible reflex! Out of no where he has been spitting up for no reason. Today he threw up a whole feeding....bless his heart it even came out through his nose! The doctor said that for the first month, in any baby, they have alot of acid that cause problems...but i figured he would be past that?! He is now 8 weeks and 5 days old :) I am overwhelmingly in love with the two beautiful boys in my life!!!

He's A Big Boy

Axton is now a little over 8 pounds!!! I can see changes in him every where. It seems like his face changes a little everyday. He is also starting to recognize me....when i wake him up and tell him i love him he gives me a huge smile! He cant decide whether he is going to be hot or cold natured....but i cant wait for the day he decides :)

Hooray!

So at first Axton hated baths and i dreaded giving them to him. He would just sit there and cry and cry and look at me like why are you torturing me?! Oh it killed me. BUT today mom was over and she helped me give him his bath today and he loved it!! Having another person really helped. She kept splashing water on him which kept him warm while I washed him. He just kicked and flailed his little arms. It was such a relief...I really thought he was going to hate the water and we would never be able to have fun with him in the pool and things like that. He surprises me with something new everyday :)

Clingy....

Axton has become very attatched to his momma. Which makes me feel so special BUT its very hard on me as well. At first we had his days and nights correct but now it like every minute he wants to be in my arms reguardless of whether Im paying attention to him or not. So when ever I try to put him on his wedge to sleep he throughs a fit and squirms and screams and cries actual tears. I know Im spose to let him cry and sooth himself, but some times it doesnt work even after about 10 or 15 minutes! So with the lights still off I go over and try to pat him and talk soothingly to him but that seems to make it worse. Only when I actually pick him up and have him in my arms is he content. I need help or suggestions. Because I dont know since he is still so little if I should hold him or if he is going to get use to being rescues after the slightest cry?! HELP anything little comment will help.

Feet...

Mom came over last night while Chris was at work and went with Axton and I on our first walk! It was so great to get out of the house with him. He seemed to like it....keep in mind though he was passed out the entire time! I was very excited about going on another walk today but it looks like it could rain the entire day. It seemed like it rained all night then stopped for a little bit and now its at it again. Dont get me wrong I love the rain and we do need it, but although I only went on one walk Im addicted :)

So Axton realizes he has hands but not feet yet....and even though he knows he has hands he DOES NOT want you to touch them...at all. The only exception is he likes to hold my finger while he eats :) its so sweet. But anyways....whenever I was pregnant every mom warned me to clean in between Axtons toes because they collect fuzz that stinks. Man were they right!!! You wouldnt think such little fuzz could cause such big odor! So I took pictures of Axtons feet and toes and they look kinda long in person but REALLY long in pictures.....hes just like his daddy...skies for feet and fingers for toes. Here are some pictures of his long ole toes and how much he loves me messin with them....and I'm "torturing" him so much that not even a binki can come to the rescue :)

The Doctor

Today we went to the doctor for a follow up. When you go to a follow up at Dr. Youngs office you talk to the nurse practitioner instead of him...just thought i would through that it. Anyway...Axton now weighs 7.9 pounds!!!! She said that she was very pleased because they would like your child to gain one ounce everyday. Well we gained 17 ounces in 14 days! I am so proud of him :)You can really see a difference in him. He has neck rolls and fat around his elbows and knees..oh its so wonderful. Never would I think I would be HAPPY to wash in between fat rolls :) Back to the doctors visit. Everything is perfect on his little body but he does have a umbilical hernia. She said that they are common and it should disappear by the time he is a year old. Chris and I were very concerned about his little (well i should say little) LARGE outie! It sticks out so far then when he laughs or pushes its even worse. But as long as he doctor says hes fine Im fine. Axton is still suffering from thrush as well but they gave us another medicine to help fight it. Thankfully it doesnt seem to bother him anymore. Other than that the visit went well. We go back in 2 months for shots. SCARY!!!!

Enough about the doctor. Let me tell you Axton keeps amazing me everyday with his strength. He ROLLED OVER today for the first time!!! I had him playing on his back on his little activity mat and decided he needed some tummy time. So i flipped him on his belly. He just kicked his little legs then stopped for a second. I was talkin to him then all the sudden he lifted himself up on his side then kicked his little legs really hard and flipped right over!!! I put him back on his belly and he tried again but couldnt quite get it...he will though! I was so shocked and upset that I dont have a camera built into my eyes :) I feel so bad because I get to see everything for the first time then have to call Chris and tell him what he missed. Its so hard but at least one of us witnessed it! I love them so much.

Swinging

Today was filled with firsts for Axton. We were given a swing for him at one of my baby showers and he couldnt fit in it when we first brought him home from the hospital but we tried again today and he fit! So we put the swing on low and put on the pretty music and he loved it. He looks so small in the seat :)

Next mom and I took him out to a store for the first time. He got the privilege of shopping at Target :) He did so well he just slept in his little car seat almost the whole time....towards the end of our shopping experience he decided he was hungry and started to cry. But i convinced him his binki was food and he happily went back to sleep. I found the cutest (and very cheap i might add) binki holder while i was there. Axton used the Soothie binki while he was in the NICU and refuses to use any other. You have to buy a special binki clip to hold them on there shirts and i found the cutest one! The soothie is the eyes and smile and the body is a penguin...and then the clip for his shirt is an igloo!! oh i love it :)

He is such a wonderful baby. He couldnt have a better personality. Axton is always happy...unless hes hungry :) but that is only because i think he is finally being able to experience hunger pains. Normally its just one loud cry and thats it. Its like "oh mom im starving....HELP!!!" He is so continent sitting by himself as long as he can look around at things. You would think he would like to look at bright toys and blinking things but no- he loves to look at the wall and the ceiling! He could care less about the toys you bought him. The wall is just so fascinating to him. I think it is the contrast. Our walls are BRIGHT white and the doors and trim are DARK brown.

Tomorrow we go to the doctor again for another check up. Axton has gained so much weight. He is finally our little chunk :) I think he is close to 8 pounds but well see....
